Rantin bridge
Rebuilding of the bridge over the Po-Brondolo waterway, Italy’s first “network arch” road bridge

Project description
The new Rantin bridge is the first “network arch” road bridge built in Italy. It replaces an old, badly deteriorated structure and enhances the area’s strong natural setting with cutting-edge engineering and architecture.
The bridge is a through-arch structure with white steelwork and a dense network of steel cables that give it great visual lightness. It crosses the waterway with a single 72 m span and no intermediate supports, fully respecting the river ecosystem.
The tubular arches lean inwards on planes inclined at 15°. The crossed, network arrangement of the hangers maximises structural efficiency and makes the most of the materials; a thin reinforced concrete slab completes the deck.
