Structural testing of the new Auditorium
Project description
The structural works for the Conservatory’s new Auditorium included strengthening the foundations with a ribbed reinforced concrete raft bonded to the load-bearing walls, new columns supporting the intermediate floor and the roof, and a fire-fighting water tank whose top slab serves as the stage.
The existing roof was replaced with a new glued-laminated timber and steel structure; part of the intermediate floor was also replaced, the wall behind the stage was strengthened with reinforced plaster, and new reinforced concrete lift and stair cores were built.
